Job opportunity: SAAT Specialist Employee Wellbeing and Employment Equity

Job Purpose

To provide an efficient and effective Employee Wellbeing and/or Employee Assistance Programme consultancy service to SAA Technical, which includes counselling on psycho-social matters that may affect delivery of work. Monitor and implement requisite remedial steps towards eliminating Human Factor risk within the workplace.  Formulate, consult on and implement Employment Equity Plan. Manage and ensure SAAT’s full compliance with the statutory obligation of Employment Equity Act of 55 of 1998.  Review all policies within SAAT in order to identify barriers and implement affirmative action measures to eradicate the identified barriers.

Principal Accountabilities
  • COUNSELLING SERVICES
    • Establish, provide and maintain a professional counselling service on employee wellbeing challenges.
    • Identify and facilitate appropriate external support system where required, for instance specialised Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) interventions.
    • Ensure compliance with legal, ethical and professional requirements in managing employee wellbeing.
  • MANAGE WELLNESS PROGRAMS
    • Identify trends and develop appropriate intervention strategies
    • Monitor effectiveness of programs, and propose enhancements where necessary
    • Engage relevant stakeholders regarding employee wellbeing programme’s effectiveness
    • Roll-out Employee Wellbeing Surveys, and implement remedial programmes
  • MANAGE THE SAAT HIV AND AIDS, AS WELL AS OTHER HEALTH PROGRAMMES
    • Ensure adequate awareness amongst staff of health risk and available intervention
    • Provide education and training
    • Support facilitate roll-out of lifestyle management programmes
  • ABSENTEEISM MANAGEMENT
    • Identify employee wellbeing problem areas and formulate remedial steps
    • Ensure existence of control mechanism
    • Engage relevant Line Supervisors/Managers to address absenteeism challenges, in line with SAAT policies and procedures
  • EMPLOYEE WELLNESS
    • Consistently and appropriately respond to employee’s psycho-social needs and concerns
    • Work with interdisciplinary team to achieve the highest level of functioning of employees
    • Provide therapy duties in all settings across the continuum of care
    • Manage EWB department performance to ensure overall compliance with the attainment of goals.
    • Maintain all EWB department reports, statistics and records system complaint with policies and a broad spectrum of legislation.
  • ACT AS ADVISORY/CONSULT TO LINE MANAGERS ON SAAT’S EMPLOYMENT EQUITY (EE) AND TRANSFORMATION PROGRAMS
    • Provide sectional, departmental and organisational employee distribution demographic profiles to all HOD’s, EE Forums Members and all recognised labour movements on monthly basis
    • Advise line managers on affirmative action measures necessary to reach numerical targets
    • Assist line management on provision of information and filling of vacancies towards satisfying EE targets.
    • Liaise with organisational Development Manager and Skill Development Facilitator to draw up programmes aimed at advancing Employment Equity
    • Attend interviews to ensure that SAAT adheres to its numerical EE targets and advise when this is compromised
    • Conduct SAAT policy and procedure analysis to remove any barriers and implement appropriate Affirmative Action Measures.
    • Manage employment equity forums in order to support the efficient and effective operation of the forum.
    • Manage the employment Equity policy and other SAAT policies are reviewed and amended where necessary periodically
    • Keep record of all discussions, meetings and transactions and information on all Employment Equity matters
    • Prepare and provide monthly EE trends reports
    • Ensure timeous submission on annual statutory EE report as per the EE Act
  • IDENTIFICATION AND RESOLUTION OF ALL FORMS OF UNFAIR DISCRIMINATION
    • Address all concerns and queries from staff, management and unions with regards to Employment Equity
    • Participate in an address queries with the EE Committee
    • Proactive identification and resolution of discriminatory practices
    • Drive the attainment of SAAT’s transformation objectives, including adequate representation of designated groups
    • Facilitate roll-out of organisational culture surveys, and implement requisite responsive interventions
Qualifications & Experience
  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Appropriate Degree/B Degree in HR Degree/ Social Science Degree
  • Minimum of 2 years’ Experience in Professional Counselling
  • Driver’s license (Code B)
  • Training focusing specifically on Employment Equity and Transformation
  • High level of interpersonal skills
  • Minimum of 6 years’ HR Experience
  • Computer literate (MS Office)- Ability to construct effective presentation/management reports
